Question: What is the story behind Dubai Play time? |
I (Whisper) have always wanted to have a stable & friendly Counter-Strike server. A server where administrators respect players instead of bullying them. A server that reduces lag as much as possible. My first attempts to run a Counter-Strike server started in Ramadan, 2008. Due to little experience, the server lagged like hell and players always complained. I still remember that I changed so many routers, and asked so many players if the server is still lagging. I still remember that I read so many tutorials online to reduce lag. A player who deserves to be mentioned on this page, [Up] cute [ZAk] devoted his time in the beginning of Dubai Play Time to test the server for lag. As a sign of appreciation, I assigned him as an Administrator. When the server finally got stable with accepted pings, some players requested to increase the players capacity from 10 players to 12 players which I did. Later, some administrators suggested to increase the players capacity to 14 and I did. It is the players and administrators who have contributed to make this server great and we promise to keep this server running as long as people join and play :)

Question: What is the speed of the connection that Dubai Play Time server is running on? |
The server is running on Etisalat 50 MB connection.

Question: Whisper is a local Emarati and he only puts Emarati Administrators. Is that true? |
Totally wrong. Visit the administrators section to see how many Emarati and non-Emarati administrators we have. |
|
Question: Ghosting is not allowed. What does ghosting mean? |
Ghosting is when two or more users are playing in the same place (cafe or room) where one user views the screen of the other user to know the location of the players on the map. |
|
Question: I have individual lag (everyone else is not lagging except me). What to do?
|
You suffer from individual lag for many reasons. Possible reasons include:
- You have some wireless network connectivity problems.
- You are downloading or uploading a file (torrents, p2p programs).
- You have some anti-virus program that is updating itself in the background.
- You are watching some video in any video site like youtube.com and metacafe.com
- You are using some messenger program that in some cases requires substantial bandwidth or memory resources.
- You are playing from a country that is relatively distant from the server. Players from GCC countries should not suffer from this type of lag.
- Windows Update is downloading updates. This can be very tricky because Windows Update usually runs invisibly. Start the task manager (CTRL + ALT + DELETE), go to the Processes tab and check if wuauclt.exe is running. If wuauclt.exe is in the process list, it means that windows update is running.

Try solving your problem with the administrator that kicked/banned you. If your problem is not solved or if you have any other type of complaints, you may contact Whisper. You may visit the administrators section to find their contact information. Please provide your complete information; do not assume that administrators would automatically know who you are. |

Question: I have an old nickname at Dubai Play Time. Can I transfer time from my old nickname to my current one?

This question can be answered by another question: How can the administration be sure that the old nickname belongs to you? To make it simple, we will never transfer time from one nickname to another no matter what proof is provided. |
